Kent places to watch on the show starring Jodie Comer

Eagle-eyed viewers will be able to spot a number of Kentish locations when the final season of Killing Eve hits TV screens next week.

Stars of the popular Bafta-winning show were spotted filming in Margate last summer.

Two of the show’s main stars – Jodie Comer who plays Villanelle and Fiona Shaw who plays MI6 agent Carolyn Martens – were pictured filming near the Lido in Cliftonville and by photographer Frank Leppard.

It is believed that the seaside town was used to double the Caribbean island of Cuba.

According to the Kent Film Office, local attractions and businesses where scenes were filmed include Dreamland, the Lido complex, Nayland Rock Hotel and Market Square.

Filming also took place at the Sea Defense Steps of Margate Beach, Margate Harbor Arm, Sand’s Café and Newgate Lower Promenade.

The Kent Film Office website states: “The street filming showcased some of the many different aspects of Margate, maximizing the town’s rich architectural history, from the Edwardian Nayland Rock Shelter, the Georgian Royal Crescent promenade to the original and modern atmosphere of Market Street, Duke Street and Broad Street with its narrow streets and its shops.

“In contrast, All Saints Avenue has a city feel, skirting Arlington House with its Brutalist architecture.”

The Bafta-winning show has proven to be one of the BBC’s most popular drama series in recent years and also features Sandra Oh as Eve Polastri.

The love-hate relationship between Eve and Villanelle has thrilled viewers since 2018.

And it’s not the first time scenes from the series have been filmed in the county, according to the Kent Film Office.

For the opening scene of series one, episode five, the production visited the M2 motorway at Medway and Nell’s Café, a popular roadhouse off the A2 near Gravesend.

In the scene, Eve and Elena (Kirby Howell-Baptiste) question Frank (Darren Boyd) about his ties to Villanelle and the criminal organization she works for.

Nell’s Cafe has hosted a number of film crews and stars in the restaurant over the years.

The fourth season of Killing Eve will be available weekly on BBC iPlayer from Monday 28 February.
